About me

I'm Sean the owner of The Catfish Den, i'm a teenage catfish enthusiast and fish breeder. I have always had a love for freshwater creatures, even when I was younger I had a real fascination with them. My family got a freshwater community aquarium back in about 2015. Soon this turned into a discus tank then a few more tanks after that saltwater as well and now our current product ~30 tanks consisting of fresh, salt, and brackish water! Back in early 2021 I joined a website called Planet Catfish and that is where my real journey started! Later that spring I got a spawn from my Tatia intermedia and that is where my presence really became known this species isn't "hard to spawn" as far as woodcats go however for a novice fish-keeper this was huge! Since then I have spent every waking moment studying catfish particularly Auchenipterid's! Since that time I have become quite famous in the fish-breeding world breeding some woodcats that even the likes of PhD's and master breeders only dream of! Recently, I talked at Catcon 2022 and a CAAS meeting. I am now basically an encyclopedia of wood cats! My dream has always been to breed and sell these rare fish! That not only need our help to stay around in the Aquarium trade but also are thinning in imports from the wild! The Catfish Den is that dream come to life and I am so excited you can come on this journey with me! Personally I have bred 7+ species of woodcat, including US first and world's first spawns! I have also bred several species of Apistogramma, Hypancistrus, Ancistrus, Corydoras, Live-bearers, Danio, and shrimp.
